Dress Code for Friday: Canadian Tuxedo

What is a "Canadian Tuxedo"?

A "Canadian Tuxedo" is an outfit featuring denim-on-denim, typically a denim jacket paired with matching jeans, sometimes adding a denim shirt. The term was coined in 1951 after Bing Crosby was denied entry to the Hotel Vancouver because he was wearing a denim jacket and jeans. Upon hearing of the incident, Levi Strauss & Co. designed a custom denim tuxedo jacket for Crosby, equipped with a leather patch that declared it a "perfectly appropriate" attire for the finest hotels. The Canadian tuxedo is often mistaken for just a denim jacket on jeans, but it can also include denim shirts or vests, a style sometimes called "double denim".

Friday night will be hosted at a Cabane à Sucre outside of Montreal.

Correction from earlier: stilettos may be worn.
